Aromatic oils are either massaged into the skin, preferably on reflex zones, or on the energy meridian lines, as they are known from acupuncture or Shiatsu. They can also be dispersed into the room air by means of oil burners, aerosols or vaporisers.
Scents activate our sense of smell. This leads to a sensory perception with all the associated side effects (feeling of feeling, memory, reflexive influence of various body functions, etc.).
Every scent is said to have a different effect. It has been proven that, among other things, inhaled nutmeg oil, thuja oil and lemon oil can alleviate coughs. Spruce needle oil and rosemary oil used as an additive to baths have an invigorating effect. Lavender oil, hop oil, bitter orange oil and lime blossom oil have a sleep-inducing effect.
